Arise's System and Equipment Policy is the strictest published standard: the PC must be hard-wired via Ethernet and cannot be on Wi-Fi at any time, even encrypted. 5G, satellite, microwave, and cellular hotspot services are all prohibited. Minimums are 10 Mbps down / 3 Mbps up, rising to 30 / 10 for some client programs.

“PC MUST be hard-wired via Ethernet connection and cannot be connected to Wi-Fi. The use of wireless internet connections to access any Arise system at any time is prohibited, even if the connection is encrypted. Arise's PC scan checks network latency and will flag Wi-Fi even when speed looks fine. Its own troubleshooting guide says: 'Ensure you are on a hard-wired connection via Ethernet and not Wi-Fi.'

What passes for Arise

A wired connection — fiber, cable, or DSL — with an Ethernet cable from your computer to the router. Fiber is the strongest fit for Arise's requirements: upload speed matches download speed, latency stays low and consistent, and weather doesn't affect it.

If you're on satellite, a cellular hotspot, or 5G home internet, no speed test will get you past Arise's rule — the connection type is what's being checked. The fix is a wired line, installed with the Ethernet connection in the room where you'll work.

Before your Arise tech check

  1. Confirm a wired provider reaches your address (check above).
  2. Run Ethernet to your workspace — not just to the router's room.
  3. Turn off Wi-Fi and any VPN on the work computer.
  4. Run a speed test on the wired line (target: at least 10 Mbps down / 3 up) and screenshot it.
